What is the “Business Initiator” about?

Relationships, Business and Community are the basic foundation of marketing with social networking sites. This happens on multiple levels. We all know that we must establish rapport as we collect "friends" and build relationships, business and community in our niche.

On the higher level we must do the same. We need to have an inner circle of partners (real friends) with whom we collaborate regularly for growing our business and promoting our products and services.

Some of these partners in our inner circle have lots of "friends" and few products/services to offer them. Others have products/services, but not very many "friends." And, there are some with "friends" and products/services, the perfect match.

The Business Initiator (The BI Network) is the place to meet and develop relationships with partners to serve our niches.

We have developed groups that are relatively permanent. We will find a set of partners who match our niche and will find that working together will grow each of our experience, business and income.

Others will develop new groups due to the variety of niches in which we work, or possibly by the nature of our need for variety in business. Please recognize that you should any group that touches your business.

In this site, the focus will be on Groups.

One Group which everyone should join is the BI Mastermind. This is where we discuss strategies and tactics for working in these partnerships and where we discuss overall site issues.

You are encouraged to explore the profiles of other members here. When two or more of you have decided you want to work together, form a group and name it something that represents the niche in which you will be working in partnership.

What Are Your Niches?

This is a basic question within all promotional activities.

"If you don't know where you are going, all roads lead there."

To be able to plan any promotional activity, you must be clear about what niche you are going after. You much be able to plan your promotional activities armed with specific information about that niche and how to talk with that niche. If you don't get this information first, you can be assured of very poor response to your promotional activities.

So, I urge each of you to go back through your site profile and get quite clear about which niche you are going after.

The reason you need to have that clearly defined is that other members of this site, visitors and anyone who is looking here for resources will know your niche without guessing. Be clear about what they want to do.

Show Your Niche

In your profile, get your niche definitions precise, and set the first on to be the one with which you primarily want to work. Put a blank line between that top niche listing and the others. This will help those, who are exploring you and your resources for a promotional project, understand what you bring to the project.

If you cannot figure out what you niche is, join the "I Need Help!" group and post your question or concern. Make sure you tell you story, but also make sure you ask the question for which you need to develop an answer.

We are going to be growing in numbers here, so I suggest we start considering a system of categories for ourselves. The kinds of things we need to categorize are the resources we bring to promotion activities.

Number of contacts

For instance, when marketing and selling over the internet, there is strong value placed on the Number of contacts to which you can send the promotional message. This translates to the number of "friends" you have accumulated in social networking sites, the number of members you have in various social networking sites, which are owned or administered by you, and to the number of email addresses you have in opt-in auto responder lists.

When someone is designing a promotional project, one of the things needed to calculate the possible return of a promotional project, is this number of pairs of eyes which will see the promotional message.

Gathering Resources

If your promotion needs 20,000 pairs of eyes, make sure you have gathered enough resources together from the mix of our members who are willing to participate, so that you have your requisite number of eyes.

Overall Promotional Resources

There is another set of categories which we need to use. What resources do you bring to a promotional effort?

  • Product/Service Partner: The product or service being promoted
  • Eyes Partner: The number of pairs of eyes to which you can show the message.
  • Sweat Partner: How many sites, groups, and blogs to which you can post or how many bookmarks you can make.

Initiating a promotional project

Any of the different kinds of partners can initiate a project. You may have thousands of eyes at your disposal, and you search around for a product/service partner to utilize. You may only have sweat, and you can develop a plan using Eyes and Product/Service Partners to pull it off. Do not feel limited because of the resources you have personally, use this site to promote you plan and approach other members with your ideas.

Make sure that everyone wins.

For any promotional project you are organizing or for which you are providing resources, make sure the project design provides a mechanism for everyone who works on the project to win a fair return for the resources they provide for that project. Everyone needs to take responsibility for making sure this happens on every project here.
